Matthew Samuels is Head of Investments at Woodbridge. Matthew is an experienced investment professional with experience across all facets of private credit including origination, structuring, credit analysis, execution, loan and portfolio management.
Matthew is responsible for Woodbridge’s Investments through the management of investment pricing, structuring, credit analysis, due diligence, loan documentation and loan management. He places an absolute focus on bottom-up fundamental credit analysis when reviewing investment opportunities. Matthew is also responsible for Woodbridge’s ESG and Responsible Investment strategy and is a strong industry advocate passionate about the education of ESG and responsible investment in private credit.
Prior to co-founding Woodbridge, Matthew spent six years at Merricks Capital where he was the first analyst to join the private credit team in 2017, and ultimately was responsible for the execution of all commercial real estate investments. Matthew was heavily involved in credit analysis, investment committee and credit committee reporting, due diligence, and legal documentation with external legal counsel for loans across Australia and New Zealand.
Matthew graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Economics, Graduate Diploma in Economics, is a CFA®️ charter holder and holds a CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing.
